In the year 1980, it was listed in the Register of the National Estate. It also comes under IUCN class II protected area. Recently, it was proclaimed to make it a national park. So, in 2021, it was renamed Deep Creek, National Park.

3.01. Stringybark Campground

Stringybark campground is a famous location of Deep Creek Conservation Park. 

This camping site is located very far from beaches and walking trails, so fewer people exist. The visitors who want to do only camping visit this place. There is no phone reception. Bring a map or compass along with you to estimate the directions.

There are approx 16 campsites in this park. You can access three short walks from this campground. You will also encounter wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, and some bird species in this park.

3.02. Trig Campground

The trig campground has many unique facilities. It has approx 25 sites for caravans. 

This campground is largest than all other campgrounds in Deep Creek Conservation Park. You can access three famous walking trails from this campground. This campground is located at the end of Tent Rock Road.

3.03. Tapanappa Campground

Tapanappa campground is located near various walking trail networks. There are 17 sites for camping at the Tapanappa campground.

3.04. Cobbler Hill Campground

Cobbler Hill campground is the smallest campground in Deep Creek Conservation Park. It has only 6 camping sites. You can easily reach here after visiting Blowhole beach by following the same road. You can enjoy camping here along with your friends.

Cobbler hill campground is suitable for fitting caravans or tents and enjoying the nights with your friends. It is located near Kangaroo island and Blowhole beach, so you can easily reach and visit those places.

It also has its picnic area, and it is known as the Cobbler Hill picnic area. It also has its walking trail, and it is known as Cobbler Hill Marrano Picnic Area. You can easily reach Aaron Creek Campground from here because it is located at a distance of only 5 minutes.

4. Beaches and Hikes of Deep Creek Conservation Park

There are many famous beaches and hikes in Deep Creek Conservation Park. Visitors enjoy many activities like water surfing, board walking, playing beach games, sunbath, bonfire party, playing with sand, watching the sunset, relaxing, and making sandcastles.

There are two main things that you can explore during this trip Deep Creek waterfall and Deep Creek Cove. We will discuss some of the famous beaches and hikes in detail.

4.01. Blowhole Beach

Blowhole beach is a famous beach on the Fleurieu peninsula of the Deep Creek Conservation Park. You can easily reach here by following the Cobbler Hill Picnic Area. The walking trail of this beach is linked up with the Heysen trail.

By following this trail, you can enjoy the amazing sea views leading to Kangaroo island. This is a hard trail; you have to cover around 7 km to complete this trail. You have to cross a little cove in this trail so you can also enjoy rock climbing. After crossing the Heysen trail, you will reach Cobbler Hill Campground.

4.02. Boat Harbour Beach

This beach is the famous beach of the Deep Creek Conservation Park. The name Boat Harbour is given because there is a district near the beach, and the name of the district is Boat Harbour district.

This beach was opened in the year 1878. The shoreline of the sea looks awesome on this beach. Many people enjoy their time on this beach. Many trees are planted near the beach so that the people will enjoy the vegetation.

The visitors will play many water games on this beach. Children who visit this beach plays a lot with the sand. There is a boat harbor circuit hike where you can enjoy hiking and stay there at night as a night camp.

4.03. Deep Creek Circuit Hike

Deep Creek Conservation Park has a Deep Creek Circuit Hike, which is 12 km long. During this hike, you can enjoy the incredible views of the Deep Creek waterfall and cove. It is very difficult to hike.

It is a clockwise direction hike, and you can also enjoy night camp during this hike.

The little glimpse of the hike is you will start it from the trig campground and move towards the ocean by crossing the hill. Then you have to move steep descent down, and you will enjoy the lovely views of Deep Creek waterfall.

Then the hiker has to climb up to the Tapanappa lookout. This is a small stop on the hike, and it is a very nice spot. This place also has picnic tables so that the hikers can eat something. Many hikers stop here and relax.

Then you have to walk down to Deep Creek Cove. You have to follow a steep descent and then a shoreline. This is the final step, so be careful at this spot. This region is very likely for rainfall, and sometimes you will see floods and high tides in this place.

So cross the cove when there is less water. Now, you have to climb up again to the trig campground. After climbing, you will see many incredible views of valleys and water. The last 1.5 km of this trail is full of beautiful pictures.

4.04. Blowhole Beach Hike

This hike is rich in spectacular views of the Deep Creek Conservation Park. It is a 7 km long hike that can be completed in approx 3 hours. It is a very difficult hike.

Now, you must cross the little cove, move on to the steep ascent, and reach the coastal cliffs. You will enjoy the incredible views of the coastal cliffs. Then you will reach Kangaroo Island.

Now, climb up to the campground and picnic area where you have started. Your hike is completed, and you will move back by following Dirt Road. This road leads to the car park area.

4.05. Deep Creek Waterfall Hike

Deep Creek Waterfall is the famous waterfall of the Deep Creek Conservation Park. This waterfall looks awesome every season, but in the autumn season, the beauty of the waterfall enhances a lot.

A hike starts from the Trig campground and ends at the Tapanappa lookout. After following 2.5 km of the walk, you will reach the waterfall. It is a 10 km long hike. It can be completed in just 3-4 hours.

It is a moderately difficult hike. If you are not an experienced hiker and can go on difficult hiking trails, then you will go for this hike and enjoy it.

4.06. Aaron Creek Circuit Hike

Aaron Creek hike is a very difficult hike. It is for experienced walkers only. It is an 11 km long hike. Aaron creek circuit hike is easier than this hike. The experienced walkers take 4 hours to complete this trail.

It starts from Cape Jervis and ends at the Parachilna, located in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia.

Out of 1200 km, 80 km are the Wild South Coast Area. This trail also covers some parts of the Deep Creek Circuit. It is the multiple-day trail. You can not complete it in a day. It takes around 5 days and 4 nights to complete this hike.

There are some places where you can take shelter at night during the trail. It is a moderately difficult trail, so that you will enjoy the course and the adventures. Friends of the Heysen Trail maintain this trail. This is a non-profitable organization that works to keep the hike.

Deep Creek Conservation Park is highly rich in wildlife. It contains more animals than other national parks in South Australia. The wildlife service of this national park is fantastic. 8. Fees of Deep Creek Conservation Park

Like all other national parks in South Australia, this park also has an entry fee. You have to visit the official website of the park and book tickets for yourself. You also have to make a vehicle entry pass, and that pass is valid only for a day.

But, if you want to go camping and hiking for approx 2 months or more, then you can make a pass for 2-12 months at a time. Taking the entry pass for more than two months at a time will be good for you so that you don’t have to renew the pass daily.

Deep Creek Conservation Park also provides accommodation to visitors. If you need accommodation, you have to book it according to your need and the charges for the accommodation facilities are not included in the ticket booking. Hence, you have to pay them separately.
